SystemJ: A GALS language for system level design

چکیده
In this paper we present the syntax, semantics, and compilation of a new system-level programming language called SystemJ. SystemJ is a multiclock language supporting the Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous (GALS) model of computation. The synchronous reactive (SR) model is used for synchronous parts of the modelled system, and those parts, which represent individual clock-domains, are coupled asynchronously each to the other on the top-level of system design. SystemJ is based on Java language, which is used to describe “instantaneous” data transformations. Hence, SystemJ is well suited for both software-based embedded and distributed systems. SystemJ offers effective modelling of (1) data transformations through the power of Java, (2) control and synchronous concurrency through the SR paradigm and (3) asynchronous concurrency through clock domains and rendezvous. The language is based on semantics that is amenable to efficient code generation and partial automatic verification. The SystemJ micro-step semantics provide asynchronous and synchronous extensions over the semantics of other SR languages such as Esterel and provide an ideal platform for efficient software implementation.

The DSystemJ programming language for dynamic GALS systems: it’s semantics, compilation, implementation, and run-time system
The paper presents a programming language called DSystemJ, for dynamic distributed Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous systems (GALS), its formal model, formal syntax and semantics, its compilation and implementation. The language is aimed at dynamic distributed systems, which use socket based communication protocols for communicating between components. DSystemJ allows the creation and c...
متن کاملGALS system design: side channel attack secure cryptographic accelerators
The integrated circuit manufacturing technology improves almost daily, and enables designers to construct circuits that are both smaller and are able to work faster. While this increases the performance and allows more functions to be integrated on to micro-chips, it also poses significant challenges to designers. Conventional digital circuits rely on a global clock signal to function. These ci...
متن کاملHigh-Level Synthesis of GALS Systems
The aim of this research is to automate the synthesis process of synchronous elastic (SE) systems whilst exploiting the advantages of data-flow concurrency of asynchronous design. This approach automates the integration of synchrony and asynchrony. Therefore, it makes it possible to investigate high level synthesis of Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous (GALS) systems without the need to ...
متن کاملGRL: A Specification Language for Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous Systems
A GALS (Globally Asynchronous, Locally Synchronous) system consists of several synchronous subsystems that evolve concurrently and interact with each other asynchronously. Most formalisms and design tools support either the synchronous paradigm or the asynchronous paradigm but rarely combine both, which requires an intricate modeling of GALS systems. In this paper, we present a new language, ca...
متن کاملA Design Path for Design of GALS Based Communication Systems
The GALS (Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous) approach is highly suitable for implementation of communication systems. In this paper we describe an efficient design flow for GALS design based on commercial tools. As design example we have selected a digital FIR filter. It is a nontrivial task to develop an efficient design flow for GALS based systems because of the asynchronous parts. Bo...
